Fafner's 遁世居

〈拉雷多街頭〉（"Streets of Laredo"）是一首美國的傳統民歌，又名 "Cowboy's Lament"，流傳於十九世紀初的美國西部。

Laredo（拉雷多）位於美國德州，與墨西哥的新拉雷多隔著一條格蘭德河（Rio Grande）對望。受 "Streets of Laredo" 這首歌所啟發的，有同名的小說和電影，這些都是西部的冒險故事。

死前的懺悔

Mark Harris 則將這首歌當中的歌詞 "Beat the drum slowly" 改成 "Bang" the drum slowly，並以此為他棒球小說的書名。小說後來改編成《戰鼓輕敲》（Bang the Drum Slowly）這部電影。

"Streets of Laredo" 的源頭已不可考，咸認為是從英國十八世紀末的民謠 "The Unfortunate Rake" 及其改編曲而來，這些曲子共通的主題，是一位垂死之人臨終前交待後事，並對自己墮落行為的懺悔。

如果你是棒球迷，更或者，是一個小熊迷（Chicago Cubs），應該知道 Steve Goodman 有一首類似主題的歌，叫做 "A Dying Cubs Fan's Last Request"，歌曲主角自承最大的錯誤，是當了一個小熊迷，而他的遺願，是希望喪禮能在小熊隊的瑞格利球場（Wrigley Field）舉行。

電影中的演唱

我覺得這部電影的配樂和歌曲都不錯，但是原聲帶似乎並沒有發行成 CD，網路上只找得到黑膠唱片的封面圖（上圖）。"Streets of Laredo" 這首歌，在電影中是由 Piney Woods 自彈自唱所唱出。當時外面下著雨，比賽無法進行，球員們聚集在更衣室裡打發時間。我在 YouTube 上沒找到影片（有可能是侵權被刪），所以自己上傳了一份，外加中、英文字幕（中文是我自己亂翻的），不知道能撐多久。
