Fafner's 遁世居

Eric Carmen 最早是從 Raspberries 樂團成名，之後開展個人演唱事業，他的前兩首暢銷曲，全都是取材自古典音樂——或更精確地說，都是取材拉赫曼尼諾夫（Rachmaninov）的旋律。

"All by Myself"，一首 Billboard 排行第二的單曲，讓他成名；而下一首 "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again" ，雖然只獲流行榜第十一，但也奪得了成人抒情榜的冠軍，時間是 1976 年 6 月 19 日。

"Never Gonna Fall in Love Again"，主要旋律取自拉赫曼尼諾夫《第二號交響曲》。原曲如下：

Eric Carmen 的前兩首歌曲，為他建立了孤獨、憂鬱的形象；而古典音樂的旋律，讓歌曲更加淒美、動人。但之後，這種根深蒂固的形象，反讓他無法再有突破，於是他的大名，便逐漸隱身到了幕後。

直到 1987 年，他為電影《熱舞十七》（Dirty Dancing）演唱了插曲 "Hungry Eyes"，才又讓他重新回到流行榜 Top 10（第四名）。
